Jimmy Lee Henderson, 81, of Ridge Farm, passed away at 6:28am, Thursday, April 23, 2015, at Presence USMC, Danville. He was born April 30, 1933 to Dan A. and Goldie (Yoho) Henderson in Danville, IL, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by: three brothers, Harlen “Buck”, Warren, & Jerry; two sisters, Mary Jane Bowman & Francis Joan Denton; and sisters-in-law, Mary Ruth (Harlen) & Barbara (Warren).
He will be missed by: his sister, Harriet Arrasmith; his son, Kent (Betty) Henderson… of Toledo, IL; his daughters, Kimberly Ann Webb of Champaign, IL, & Marcelyn Sue Ullom, of Miami, FL; his grandsons, Jason M. (Ellen) Webb & Kaleb J. Henderson.
Jim attended Ridge Farm High School and graduated in 1951. He married Loretta Pribble on July 3, 1955, at Oakwood Christian Church officiated by Don Goodwin. She preceded him in death on December 13, 2012. Jim attended Ridge Farm United Methodist Church and was on several committees, as well as being a Sunday school teacher. He also played guitar for several church services.
Jim was past Commander of American Legion Dornblaser Post #203 and all elected offices, past Commander of the Vermilion County Council and past Commander of 18th District Department of Illinois. He was the first member to serve as Chairman of Committee to raise funds for the State of Illinois Korean War Memorial. He also belonged to Ridge Farm Masonic Lodge 632 and had served as Worshipful Master and was 32° Mason and belonged to Danville Consistory.
Jim also was past Chairman of many positions for Ford Motor Company-Indianapolis District- and worked for Mooney Motors, INC. for 45 years. He played Country & Western music for several years throughout eastern Illinois and western Indiana.
A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 3:00pm, Sunday, April 26, 2015, at Sunset’s Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, with George Desmond officiating. A Masonic Service will be held at 12:30pm Sunday. Visitation will be 1pm-3pm Sunday prior to his service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Crown Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in his name to Ridge Farm United Methodist Church.
