JEFFREY LYNN “Bips” TYLER, 72, of Germantown, TN, passed away April 14, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis, with his loving family around him after a brief battle with cancer. 

Jeff was born in Holland, MO on July 10, 1942. His parents, who preceded him in death, were J.B. and Virginia “Doodle” Jones Tyler.

He leaves his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Wilson Tyler. He is survived by two daughters, Joy (Bo) Wood of Cordova, TN and Dena (Kevin) Barker of Germantown, TN, six grandchildren, Adam, Rachel Tyler, Lauren, Olivia and Noah that were very dear to him and one brother, Lanny (Millie) Tyler of Cordova, TN.

Jeff graduated from Steele, MO High School in 1960 and Memphis State University in 1965. He served in the U.S. Army 1966-1968 as a 1st Lieutenant in the Quarter Master Corps. 

The Tylers founded and operated Direct Tire Distributors in Memphis from 1978 - 2005. Jeff was a long time member of Germantown Baptist Church. His hobby in retirement was to play Pickleball with a special group of friends at Germantown United Methodist Church, who are honorary pallbearers.

Jeff was known around The Village of Germantown as “Mr. Pickleball”. The Tylers were supporters of the University of Memphis basketball team and attended most home games and many games around the country.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to Germantown Baptist Church, 9450 Poplar Ave., Germantown, TN 38139 or The Village Foundation, 7820 Walking Horse Circle, Germantown, TN 38138.

Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. and services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 21 at Germantown Baptist Church with burial to follow in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
