Cleon "Jerry" Edwards, 78, died at 11:01 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015 in Union Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Nov. 26, 1936, in Terre Haute, Ind., to the Rev. Clark and Ruth (Stewart) Edwards. He attended the Vigo County Public School System. He was a member of the St. John Missionary Baptist Church. He was United States Air Force veteran and proudly served in the Korean War. He retired in 1999 as a law enforcement officer from the Federal Bureau of Prisons after 20 years of service. He was a former Golden Glove Regional Boxing Champion in 1952.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Cleon Edwards; one brother, Harrison Frazier; and six sisters, Mamie Bradley, Janice Goldstein, Mary Lamonte, Viola Mayhand, Violet Stewart and Margaret Stanley.
