Virginia L. "Ginger" DeWoody, 79, of Franklin, died at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at The Caring Place. Born June 19, 1935, in Oil City, she was the daughter of the Herbert R. and Virginia Green Larkin.
She graduated from Franklin High School in 1953, worked at Joy Manufacturing for a number of years as a clerk and secretary in the engineering department, was an active and faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin, enjoyed singing in the church choir and participating on the CCC Committee, was a former active board member of the Christian Loving Fund and was instrumental in the establishment of the gift shop at The Caring Place. She was a very caring people person, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, enjoyed attending her grandchildren's various activities and sporting events.
On Sept. 20, 1958, at the First Baptist Church in Franklin she married Robert DeWoody, who survives, with a daughter, Diane Hogue (David) of Seneca; and grandchildren, Shawn R. Hogue of Erie and Lauren E. Hogue, a student at IUP; and several cousins. Deceased are her parents, and an infant daughter, Mary Elizabeth DeWoody.
Services will be at 11 a, Saturday at Christ United Methodist Church, 1135 Buffalo St., Franklin with Rev. Sam Wagner, associate pastor, and Rev. David Janz, church pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Hickory Grove Cemetery.
