Rosa Lee Porter was born to Mr. Johnny and Mrs. Mamie Kelly Porter on September 16, 1935 in Calhoun, Alabama. While living in Alabama, she attended the Calhoun School and joined the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Her free-spirited soul sent her on a quest at an early age for a life outside of Calhoun, Alabama. That quest eventually landed her in Pascagoula, Mississippi with her brother Johnny where she remained. There she reaffirmed her faith and joined the Union Baptist Church. Even though she made Mississippi her new home, part of her heart always remained in Alabama with her mother and other siblings. On April 17, 2015, she was reunited once again with her parents and her siblings: George Jefferson, Johnny “Cheely” Porter, Jr., and Mary Porter Robinson as she departed her earthly home and met them in her new eternal home. While living in Pascagoula, she worked numerous jobs but by far her most rewarding one was working with the Ehlert and McElhaney families. During her many years in Pascagoula, she made many lifelong friends that loved her very much and that she loved in return. She did not have any biological children but there were many that considered her as their mother. She leaves to cherish her memories thirteen nieces and nephews: Wilbur Jefferson, George Jefferson, Jr., John Lee Jefferson, Adell Jefferson, Veronica (Clarence) Judd, Portia Porter, Edward Jefferson, Cedric (Tara) Robinson, Stacy Robinson, LaToya Robinson, Rodrequez Robinson, LaTasha (Lucien) Lobban, and Anthony Robinson; a host of grandnieces and nephews, cousins, and friends; a devoted goddaughter Pamela Williams; devoted friends, Ms. Clotee Williams, Ms. Lillian Martin and The Ehlert Family; and her friends at the Jackson County Civic Action Committee.

Funeral Service will be 2:00pm Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Union Baptist Church, Dupont Street, Pascagoula, MS

Interment will be in Machpelah Cemetery, Pascagoula, MS
