Born August 1, 1909 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Effie Thompson Goforth McAllister and William Henry Hennefer.
Married Ethel Lake, May 10, 1933, sealed later in the Salt Lake Temple. They had one daughter and three sons. She preceded him in death after 49 years of marriage.
He graduated from East High School in 1927. He played semi-pro ball as a catcher, being able to throw the ball out to centerfield. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. during World War II. He was always a hardworking, honest and honorable man, making life-long friends. He had a phenomenal memory.
His warmth, sense of humor, and cheerfulness were always part of him. He had a twinkle in his eye and a love for all those with whom he associated. He was a devoted father, husband, brother, grandfather and friend.
He married Marie Black, October 26, 1985. They traveled extensively, he especially loved Israel. He was a wonderful companion who was very kind and thoughtful. She feels he was "as close to perfect as anyone gets". He was a life-long member of the LDS Church, devoted to his callings.
He is survived by his wife, Marie, sons, Kenneth L., Stephen P., Allan M. Hennefer, step-children, Sherry Judd, Marsha Conley, Judy Dods, Warren E. Davis, Joe, Susan Brewer, Paulette Eddy, sister, Kathrine Hopkinson, and numerous grandchildren. Preceded in death by two brothers, four sisters, and his daughter, Ruth Ann.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 6, 1996 at 11 a.m. at the Murray 23rd Ward, 755 E. Three Fountains Dr. Friends may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 So. Highland Dr., and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment Sunset Gardens of the Valley, 10600 So. 1700 East.
He was very loved and will be greatly missed, "Hang in there Tumbleweed"
