Kenneth E. Buckner, 73, of Troutville, went home to be with The Lord surrounded by love at the home of his daughter Amy Robertson on Friday, April 17, 2015. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Brenda Buckner. His parents BW and Buena Buckner; brothers Jack and Benny Buckner; sister, Linda Mountcastle; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herman and Helen Mawyer; and son in law, Alan Alouf.

He is survived by daughters and son in laws, Michelle and John Hyler, Kim Alouf and Amy and Danny Robertson; grandchildren Jt and Beth Hyler, Chris and Andrea Hyler, Corey Dooley, Lauren, Karley and DJ Robertson and Austin Alouf; great grandchildren, Jackson and Bentley Dooley, Peyton Hyler, Tripp and Bryce Hyler; sister and brother-in-law, Veneda and Ralph Leslie; sister, Barbara Cundiff; brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Doris Buckner; and numerous other family members and special friends, Steve Lentz, Doris Kent and Darrell Craighead.

He was devoted to his family and friends. He loved playing golf and was a master at telling jokes. Kenneth retired from South Land Life Insurance Company and Carilion. The family would like to thank Intrepid Hospice and Home Instead for their compassionate and loving care.

A service celebrating his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday April 22, 2015 at Melrose Baptist Church with the Rev Greg Hetherington officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 1 p.m. at Melrose Baptist Church. Interment to follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Melrose Baptist Church. Arrangements by Oakeys North Chapel.
