CHULA-Mrs. Carol Phelps Bryan, 79, of the Waterloo Community in Irwin County passed away at her residence on Monday, December 22, 2014. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Waterloo Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Pangle officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at Albritton Funeral Directors. Pallbearers are Lee Bryan, Andrew Bryan, Josh Irvin, Kyle Phelps, Dennis Anderson and Ronnie McCurdy. The oldest child of the late Ottis Phelps and Bessie Jo Cheek Phelps, Mrs. Bryan was born December 10, 1935 in Tift County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marlen Bryan; two sisters, Linda Phelps and Gail Phelps; and one brother, Joe M. Phelps. Mrs. Bryan was a very active member of Waterloo Baptist Church before Alzheimer's disease took over her life. She was a former Sunday school teacher, and enjoyed every minute of her church life. She sang in the choir and cleaned the church sanctuary on a weekly basis. Mrs. Bryan was a wonderful homemaker who loved caring for her family by cooking, gardening, cleaning and helping her grandchildren. She loved to sing and play the piano. Above all else, her life revolved around her church and her family. Mrs. Bryan is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Rob and Angie Bryan and Randy and Barbara Bryan; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jim Albritton, all of the Waterloo Community in Irwin County; six grandchildren, Lee Bryan of Chula, Anna Bryan of Brooklyn, NY, Dawn and Josh Irvin of Ashburn, Andrew and Jessie Bryan, Madeline Albritton and Millicent Albritton, all of Waterloo; three great-grandchildren, Rylan Bryan, Ryder Bryan and Aubrey Irvin; one brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Mary Phelps of Chula; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Patsy and Earl Blanchard of Enigma and Dot and Royce Bledsoe of Musella; one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Melvin and Joann Bryan of Chula and Carlene Phelps of St. Mary's; and several nieces and nephews.
