Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2015 for local businessman, James Willard (Mr. Z) Zimmermann in the chapel of McDonald Funeral Home with Donald Duncan and L.C. Loveless officiating. Burial followed in the Lewis County Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Zimmermann, age 84, passed away Tuesday, April 21 at his home.
He was born November 30, 1930 in Hohenwald, a son of the late Johnnie B. Zimmermann and Bertha Goodman Zimmermann.
Mr. Z was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the United States Navy. He was a 7th degree black belt and owned and operated Zimmermann Karate School, teaching Wado-Ryu Karate to over 1,000 students in over 48 years.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Zimmermann of Hohenwald; daughter, Sherry Zimmermann of Hohenwald; two granddaughters, Ronda Tiller Brown of Columbia and Rachel Tiller Owen of Hohenwald; grandson, Matthew Guy Tiller of Hohenwald; granddaughter, Cortni Layne Tiller Devore, also of Hohenwald; nine great granddaughters, two great grandsons, and one great, great grandson."
