Asa Mathias Embree
March 19, 1926-May 5, 2006
Asa Mathias Embree entered into eternity at the home of his daughter, Rebecca Byrket, in Mt. Mesa, Calif. on May 5, 2006. He was born in Holyoke, Minn. on March 19, 1926. He enlisted in the army at the age of 18. He served in World War II under the command of General Bradley in the European campaign, Battle of the Bulge, Battle at Remagen Bridge and the March to Berlin.
He was employed by International Paper for 37 years. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, VFW, and the Elks. Activities included church usher, Boy Scouts, VFW Chaplain and bingo caller.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Eliza; son Patrick; daughters Baby Daughter Embree and Sheila; brothers Charles, Jack and Tom; and sisters Martha Reinke, Irene Randall, Agnes Longshore and Marie Baker.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Delores, of Wofford Heights; sons Robert of Fontana, Calif., and James of Lake Amicon, Wisc.; daughters Rebecca, of Mt. Mesa and Sarah of Riverside, Calif.; daughter-in-law Mary of Bremen, Ala.; brother Joseph Benton of Finlayson, Minn.; granddaughters Theresa, Jennifer, Sheila, Shannon and Cheyenne; grandson Christopher; great-granddaughters Krysten, Courtney, and Megan; great-grandson Austin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Asa was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and uncle and will be truly missed.
Visitation and rosary were held May 11, 2006 from 4 - 8:30 p.m. at Ingold Funeral Chapel, Fontana, Calif. Funeral Mass was held on Friday, May 12, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. at St. George's Catholic Church in Fontana, Calif. Interment followed at Green Acres memorial Park in Bloomington, Calif.
