Beatrice Rebecca (Rietveld) Aalbers was born on Friday; July 22, 1921 in Pella; Marion County, Iowa. She was the daughter of: Dick A. and Clara (De Goey) Rietveld. Beatrice grew up on the farm and attended country grade school where she completed the eighth grade. On Friday; June 28, 1940 Beatrice was united in marriage with Marion Aalbers in Pella, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Roger, Lois, and Randy. Beatrice and Marion farmed near Otley for fifty-nine years prior to moving to Pella in 2001. Beatrice helped with the farm work and was a loving housewife to her husband and their three children. Her favorite place was her home where she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. Beatrice and Marion were members of the Otley Reformed Church where she did volunteer work as well as being a member of the Banner Bears and the Dorcas Society. Beatrice Rebecca (Rietveld) Aalbers, age 87, passed away on Tuesday; March 3, 2009 at the Oskaloosa Care Center in Oskaloosa; Mahaska County, Iowa. Those left to mourn her passing are: Her son, Randy and his wife, Cindy of Minburn, Iowa; her daughter, Lois and her husband Jerry Haines of Oskaloosa, Iowa; five grandchildren: Jeff Haines, Deb Porter, Dustin Aalbers, Tammy Renaud, and Jaci Underwood; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her brother, Robert Rietveld and his wife, Gerry of Hutchinson, Kansas; her sister: LaVerne Van Dusseldorp of Oskaloosa, Iowa; and her sister-in-law: Cornelia Mae Koopmans of Pella, Iowa. Preceding her in death were: her parents; her husband, Marion, on July 26, 2003; and her son, Roger, in 1991; and her parents-in-law, Gysbert and Gertrude Aalbers. May they rest in peace. Visitation will be after 12:00 Noon on Friday; March 6, 2009, with family present 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Pella Garden Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at: 1:30 P.M. on Saturday; March 7, 2009 at the Otley Reformed Church in Otley; Marion County, Iowa. Memorials in Beatrice's honor may be donated to the Otley Reformed Church and/or Hospice of Mahaska County.
