Ronald E. "Ron" Swan went home to be with his heavenly Father on Friday, April 17, 2015. Ronald was born to Ira L. and Bethel E. (Dwyer) Swan on January 27, 1949, in Liberal, Kansas.

Ron was raised and attended school in Hugoton, Kansas. He was active in Cub Scouts to receiving his Eagle Scout during his school years. Ron graduated in May of 1967, with the senior class at Hugoton High School. He accepted the Lord and was a member of the First Christian Church. Ron was enrolled for one semester at Wichita State University before joining the United States Navy in February of 1968. Ron took his basic training out of San Diego, California. His job consisted of assisting in the loading of conventional weapons on the U.S.S. Forrestal Aircraft
Carrier and performing routine maintenance of the aircraft armament system. Ron was deployed for three years of active duty in the Mediterranean Sea until December 1971. He then served in the Naval Reserves until February 1974, where he received an honorable discharge. Ron attained the rank of E-5 Petty Officer 2nd Class with the Fighter Squadron 11 Ordinance Branch. Ron was given the National Defense Service Medal.

In February 1975, Ron married Karen Slocum and to this union one son, John Jeremiah Swan was born in November 21, 1979. On January 11, 1987, Ron and John Swan were united in marriage to Sharon (Green), daughter Beckie Jo and son Shane Roy Kirkhart where they grew together as a new family. They soon were immersed in the Forgan Schools where Ron was a scout leader.

Ron had a varied employment following his stent in the Navy. He managed a dairy farm for several years and was a lineman for Pioneer Electric. In 1980 to 1995 Ron was employed by Panhandle Eastern Pipeline. Ron attended the Area Vocational Technical School in Liberal, Kansas, from 1995 to 1997 where he graduated with honors. He received Outstanding Achievement awards in Communication Technology and Microprocessor Technology. He was a chaplain of VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America). Ron rejoined Panhandle Eastern Pipeline in 1998 and was still employed with them at the time of his death.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his father-in-law and a brother-in-law. Survivors are his wife Sharon, of the home, Kingfisher, Oklahoma; sisters Marilyn Holcomb and Leona Sullivan and Mike all of Jefferson City, Missouri; son John Swan, Austin, Texas; daughter Beckie Powell and David of Laverne, Oklahoma; son Shane Kirkhart and Jennifer of Forgan, Oklahoma; mother-in-law Idell Green, Shattuck, Oklahoma; brothers-in-law Alan Green and Gale of Enid, Oklahoma and Joe Green and Mona of Laverne, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren and one great granddaughter still in the oven; and many nieces, nephews and loved ones.
