Contrell Lamont "Trell" Alexander, age 13, was a student at Simmesport Elementary School. He attended New Mount Calvary Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Junior Usher Board. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, 4-H, and the Junior Deputy organization. Trell was survived by his parents, maternal grandparents, and paternal grandparents. He was a murder victim.
The youth's body was discovered lying in a roadside ditch on Old Highway 1 north of Simmesport at 7:30 Wednesday morning. Rabalais reported Thursday afternoon that the Sheriffs office was still continuing in the investigation with the assistance of Point Coupee authorities. Alexander, a student at Simmesport Elementary, was a member of New Mount Calvary,. Baptist Church, where he was a. member of the Junior Usher Board. He was also a member of the 411 Club, a member of the Junior Deputy organization and a Boy Scout. The youth is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Alexander of Simmesport; his maternal grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. Alvin Courtney, Sr. of Simmesport; and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Alexander, also of Simmesport.
Burial was in the New Mount Calvary Baptist Church cemetery.
