Rebecca was the second daughter of David Potter and Elizabeth B. Gold Potter. She was born on the family farm in the Campbell township, close to Springfield.

She was sister to Sinthy (who died before Rebecca was born), Margarete, Chrisopher Columbus, James David, William C., Daniel, Marcellus Leander, Walter Edmund, Charles Franklin and Florell(a) Elizabeth.

Rebecca married her first husband, Private Charles Switzer in Greene County, Missouri, September 23rd, 1862. Their first and only child, Charles David was born July 7th, 1863.

Tragedy struck the family however when Rebecca's husband Charles was killed in the line of duty, shortly before his term with the 6th Missouri Cavalry was done. He is buried on the Potter family farm (Switzer-Potter Burying Ground).

On September 24th, 1866, she married Charles Drager, a man that had owned property very near the Potter Family farm.

The couple had five children: Ida, Elizabeth, Clara, Olive "Ollie" Columbia and Albert.
For unknown reasons, Rebecca had turned guardianship of her first son Charles, over to her father, David Potter.

Four years after her last son was born in 1879,
she would meet an early demise.
