Silas Adkins was the son of old pioneers, Jesse and Elizabeth Adkins. His boyhood home was near Canby. His wife died 27 years ago. He is survived by one daughter, Merle Adkins. He also leaves four brothers: Lorenzo, William, Lee, and Orren. Three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Akins, Mrs. Amanda Waldron, and Mrs. Ola Fisher.
The services were conducted by Rev. H.G. Edgar of the First Presbyterian church. The interment was in Zion cemetery at Canby, the remains laid to rest near his brother James, who was killed by a Southern Pacific train several years ago.
