Hall of Fame Professional Football Player. For eleven seasons (1953 to 1963), he played at the tackle position in the National Football League with the San Francisco 49ers. Born Robert Bruce St. Clair, he attended San Francisco Polytechnic High School where he made his first impression on the football field. He contended his athletics at the University of San Francisco, prior to transferring to the University of Tulsa. Selected by the 49ers during the 3rd round of the 1953 NFL Draft, he totaled 119 career regular season games. During the course of his career, St. Clair (who's physique was six foot, nine inches and 265 pounds) established himself as one of the best passing and rushing blockers during his era. As a special teams player, he blocked 10 field-goal attempts in 1956. He earned Pro-Bowl honors five-times. After retiring from football he became a successful businessman. He served as the Mayor of Daly City, California while playing in the NFL From 1958 until 1964 and later was a member of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors. He was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1990.
