Hazel Bessie Boyd, 70, died on Friday, April 17, 2015, in her home. She was the wife of Ralph E. Boyd and at the time of his death in August 2014, they had shared 53 years of marriage.
Born on September 1, 1944, in Harford County, Md., she was a daughter of the late James Garvie and Ertie (Privette) Cochran.
She had worked several years at the former Fawn Grove Manufacturing Company and for ten years at Bel Forest Nursing Home in Bel Air, Md. Mrs. Boyd adored her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by six children, Sue Bamford of Parkville, Md., Allen Boyd of York, James Boyd and his wife, Janet of Huntsville, Texas, Kathy Kodadek and her husband, William of Red Lion, Gary Boyd and his wife, Janice of New Freedom, Billy Boyd and his wife, Penny of Felton; three sisters, Sylvia Little of Airville, Opal Shaffer of Roanoke, Va., Betty Stoltzfus of Bedford; a brother, Donald Cochran of Pearisburg, Va.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main St., Delta, PA, where the funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday. Pastor Ray Powers will officiate with interment in Union Chapel Cemetery, Delta, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 211 E. Lombard St., Suite #260, Baltimore, MD 21202.
