"AGED DOCTOR PASSES AWAY
DR. ORRIN S. BONSTEEL SUCCUMBS TO ILL HEALTH AT 85 - FUNERAL FRIDAY
Dr. Orrin S. Bonsteel passed away Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock at his home, 21 South Washington street. The cause of his death is attributed to old age, since, had he lived until the eighteenth of this month, he would have been eighty-five years old.
Dr. Bonsteel was born in 1825 in Perry, New York. He taught school in early life. His medical education was obtained at Geneva College in New York state, and for a year and a half thereafter he studied with Dr. Hammond and assisted him in his office at Pennyan, New York. While at Pennyan he married Miss Mary Kenyon, and shortly afterwards they moved to Plymouth, Michigan, where they lived from 1850 to 1865. At that time they came to Ypsilanti, where the doctor has since practiced his profession. Mrs. Bonsteel died in 1894.
Dr. Bonsteel is survived by his daughter, Hattie M. Bonsteel. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at two o'clock from the family home, Rev. C. M. Creighton conducting the services."
