TRAGEDY AT INWOOD

Kerosene On Fire Cost Life of Mrs Gerrard

Mrs Shad Gerrard was so badly burned in her home at Inwood Saturday that she died Sunday morning. The residence was destroyed, and adjoining houses saved with difficulty.

Whiile getting dinner Saturday Mrs Gerrard, about 45 years old, attempted to hurry a slow fire by pouring kerosene on it from a freshly filled can. The can exploded, deluging her with its blazing contents. She ran from the house and men near by helped extinguish the flames, but not until Mrs Gerrard was so frightfully burned that she died twenty hours later.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the M E church at Inwood. Interment was in the Hindal cemetery.

A husband and four adult children survive.
