She was born June 25, 1939, in Elba, daughter of the late Hobert and Sara Correne Hupp Travis.
She was formerly employed as a cook for Macksburg Schools and Ogle's Restaurant in Macksburg. She retired as a nurse's aide from Summit Acres Nursing Home following many years of service, and where she was devoted to her many patients. She attended Elba Community Church and Macksburg United Methodist Church. Mrs. Smith enjoyed flowers, cooking and baking, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, David Smith, whom she married May 15, 1954, and who died June 13, 2013; and three brothers, Holby, Ray and Harley Travis.
Surviving are one daughter; one son; one brother; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East St., Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, with Ken Perkins and Pastor Thurman Harmon officiating. Burial will follow at Lund Cemetery in Macksburg.
