"Bernis" or "Bernice" (Bernard) Brown was the son of Benjamin Thompson Brown and Lucy Ann Richards (1 Feb 1810 - 29 May 1904). He was born on Nov. 4, 1840 in Virginia and died on 1 Jan 1898. He was the grandson of Rev. Bernis Brown and Henrietta Rodes. "B. B. Brown" married Elizabeth Imboden, the daughter of Henry A. Imboden on 8 Feb 1865 in Rockbridge Co., Virginia.


On the 1850 Albemarle Co., Virginia census, I found Benja T. Brown, 53; Lucy, 39; Burnis, 9; James, 7; Lucy, 5; Thomas, 3 and Lucian, 1, all Virginia born.


On the 1860 Charlottesville, Albemarle Co., Virginia census, I found farmer B. T. Brown, 63 with $16,500 in real estate; female L.A., 50; BB, 19; JR. 17; female LA. 15; Jeff R. 13 and Lucius, 11, all Virginia born.


On the 1870 Charlottesville, Fredericksville, Albemarle Co., Virginia census, I found him living next to her mother and siblings: Lucy A. Brown, 60 with $10K in real estate; Lucy Ann. 23 and Lucian, 20 beside her son, farmer B R (or B) Brown, 28; Elizabeth, 26; Isabella, 4; Henry T., 2 and W. P. Richards, 72, at home, all Virginia born.


I could not find them on the 1880 Virginia census.


Daughter Virginia B. Brown was born on 15 May 1877 in Albemarle, Virginia to Bernis B and Elizabeth Brown.


Virginia Blanche Brown, age 32, born in abt 1877 in Albemarle Co., Virginia, the daughter of B.B. and Elizabeth Brown married widower Marion Otis Lacy, 39, born in Chesterfield Co., Virginia, son of Sidney and Mary Lacy, on 24 Feb 1909 in Lynchburg, Virginia. Marion had 3 children by his first marriage on the 1910 Lynchburg, Virginia census and Virginia had 1 child, that she lost and no more were recorded in the 1920 and 1930 censuses.


"Belle" Brown, age 18, daughter of B.B. and Elizabeth Brown, married John S. Doyle, age 26, son of Jas and Ann Doyle, on 30 Jan 1884 in Botetourt Co., Virginia.


His wife's obit named him "Bernard B. Brown" and states she had 2 daughters and 1 son, at the time of her death. I've also seen Bernis Benjamin Brown.
