Jule was married to Gladys V Kramer. She preceded him in death in 2011. He served in the US Air Force during WWII in the South Pacific.

Also Known As: Mr Cartoon.

Jule was a member of both the Knights Templar & Scottish Rite Masonic Orders and a recipient of the Knights Templar Cross Of Honor, among other ranks and honors. He was personally recognized by Jerry Lewis for his role that he tirelessly performed during the March Of Dimes Telethon each year.

For many decades, Jule brightened the day of residents throughout the Tri-State area of WV, OH, & KY. He was one of the first pioneers of Broadcast Journalism during the early days of television. In 2006, Jule was inducted into the Museum of Radio and Technology's Broadcasting Hall of Fame. He is also in the Huntington Hall of Fame as well as the Western Hills High School Hall of Fame in Cincinnati.

As a born entertainer, he was a natural in the fledgling industry of broadcasting when most everything was aired live. He began his career at WSAZ in 1953 as a singer for a variety show called Coffee Time. Jule filled many roles at the station, including 38 years as weatherman. He was also involved with two children's shows before assuming his iconic role of Mr Cartoon.

Jule loved children and WE LOVED him. Mr Cartoon not only entertained his 'Cartooners', but instructed us about responsibility and respect. He encouraged morals and manners and reminded viewers to use 'magic words' like "please" and "thank you".

The Mr Cartoon show would begin as Jule enthusiastically entered and said, "H-i-i-i, Cartoooners!!!". To which the studio audience (and everybody at home) would reply, "H-i-i-i, Mister Cartooon!!!"

For many years this would be a daily weekday routine for countless children. In 1995 the Mr Cartoon Show would see its final curtain and Jule would retire. Throughout his career Jule was an active member of the community and would remain so for much of his life.

Jule was a Cincinnati native and was fond of gardening and golf. He was also a fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. He sang the National Anthem at several Reds games.

The world was a better place because of Jule, and Mr Cartoon. It is with many thanks to Jule, and with very heavy hearts, that we - still here in 'Mr Cartoonland' - say, "Goodbye, Mr Cartoon, we will miss you."

Longtime WSAZ weatherman Jule Huffman, perhaps better known to generations of Tri-State children as "Mr. Cartoon," died Thursday. He was 91.
