John Gerald Lewandowski, 83, of Port Huron, died Tuesday, March 24, 2015.
He was born February 18, 1932 in Bay City to the late Vincent and Frances Lewandowski. He married Rita Peplinski on August 18, 1956 in Bay City. She preceded him in death on December 14, 2012.
John graduated from Ferris State University School of Pharmacy in 1961 and spent most of his career working as a pharmacist and in various leadership roles in the Mercy Hospital Health Care System before his retirement. He was a man of many talents who enjoyed woodworking and fishing, but his family was always most important to him.
He is survived by seven children, Sharon (Mick) Burns, Jan Belkiewicz, Craig (Kristine) Lewandowski, John (Kim) Lewandowski, Anne (Walter) Zaziski, Karen (Kevin) Bird and Mark (Kim) Lewandowski; 13 grandchildren, Heather (Mitch) Olaughlin, Jenny (Victor) Maul, Jamie Belkiewicz, John R. & Megan Lewandowski, Kara, Emily & Sarah Zaziski, Kiersten & Kallie Bird, and Jack, Cate & Natalie Lewandowski; six great grandchildren, Carson, Adrian, Jaden, Austin, Brooklyn & Morgan; three brothers, Ernie (Marion) Lewandowski, Clarence (Josephine) Lewandowski and Jim (Mariann) Lewandowski; three sisters, Lorine Syring, Tish Talaga and Janet (Harvey Jr.) Syring; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Lewandowski; a brother, Ed Lewandowski; and a sister, Rita Lewandowski.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Mr. Lewandowski will lie in state from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2015 in St. Mary Catholic Church. The Reverend Zbig Zomerfeld will officiate.
The Rite of Committal will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Port Huron.
