She was a daughter of Flora Batson Styles and the late Homer Styles.

Mrs. Garland was a homemaker.

She was a member of Marietta First Baptist Church.

She was also a charter member of the Travelers Rest Womans Club which was organized in 1966 and the first meeting was held in her home. She was honored in 2005 as the Travelers Rest Area Business Association “Citizen Of The Year” and was a volunteer in her church, and community.
