ALEXANDER – Rex Lonnie Fox, age 81, of Alexander went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 18, 2015.
Mr. Fox was born March 17, 1934 in Buncombe County where he lived all of his life. He retired from Johnson City Chemical Co. Rex farmed all of his life and worked the tobacco market at Owen’s Tobacco Warehouse. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. Rex was a son of the late W.O. and Zelma Clark Fox.
Surviving are his wife of fifty years, Doris Wilburn Fox; children, Lonnie Fox and wife Patricia of Bahama, NC, Vanessa Sluder and husband Randy of Alexander, Camelia Fox of Mills River, Sonya Wysong and husband Rusty of Swannanoa, Rex Jerome Fox and wife Donna of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Revonda Bass and husband Jeff of Creedmoor, NC; sisters Faye Hawkins of Weaverville, Hattie Redmon of Asheville; brother, Rev. Bobby Fox and wife Wanda of Woodfin; thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and special nephew Larry Greene and wife Pat.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 21, 2015, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Anthony Fox officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View FWB Church Cemetery with military honors conducted by the VFW Post #5483 Mars Hill Memorial Team.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
