Jane Anne Daniels, 83, of Ashton, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015, after battling Parkinson's disease for several years.

She was born May 30, 1931, in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Her family moved to the West Coast after she was born. Jane graduated from Glendale High School, received an Associate in Arts Degree from Glendale College and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Redlands.

She married Claude G. Daniels on June 30, 1956, in San Bernardino, California.

Jane taught school in California, Oregon and Colorado.

In 1971, the family moved to St. Anthony, Idaho where Jane worked at Housley's for several years. After moving to and living in Washington State for a period of time, Jane and Claude moved back to Island Park where Jane wrote the column, Calamity's Corner for the Island Park Bugle and The Villager. She also wrote for the Island Park News as Jane Daniels, Archives.

Jane was very civic minded and was instrumental in helping bring about the Island Park Library and also worked with the Historical Society.

In 1999, they moved to Ashton where she became the town's Archivist, serving from 2001 to 2014.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Claude Daniels; daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Edwards of Riegelwood, North Carolina; son, Claude "David" Daniels of Lusk, Wyoming; grandchildren, Orion Niel Bergeson of Rigby, Shannon Marie Bergeson of Pahrump, Nevada, Ann Marie, Sara Ann and Michael David Daniels all of Lusk, Wyoming. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, at the Ashton Pineview Cemetery, 1300 North 3600 East, with Pastor Greg Lindsay of the Ashton Community United Methodist Church officiating. The family will meet with friends Thursday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at Baxter Funeral Home, 717 Main Street, before going to the cemetery for services.
