Shreveport, LA - Ellen Mayville Barber, age 71, passed away Thursday April 16, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born January 10, 1944 in Mt. Vernon, Indiana to parents Earl Dillon Mayville and Edna Lee. She was a retired respiratory therapist having worked for Willis-Knighton Hospital. Ellen was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and loved fishing with her husband, gardening, geneology, and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Lucille Elmore, Virginia Walls, and Billie Jean Harper.
Ellen is survived by her husband of 54 years, Sherman Paul Barber; daughters, Paula Byles and husband Thurman, Crystal Henderson and husband Tim, Tonie Hall and husband Theron, and a son, Sherman Barber, Jr.; 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday April 20, 2015 at Blanchard Memorial Garden Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Corey Hall, Joseph Barber, Nate Guthrie, Thurman Byles, Tim Henderson, and Theron Hall.
A special thanks goes out to Willis-Knighton Hospice, Mike Chandler, and special friend Tristy Sullivan for her support and love during our time of grief.
