Rose M Porter
Rose Porter passed away peacefully at home on October 9th, 2013 surrounded by her family in Boise ID. She was 92. Rose was blessed to have had a long and wonderful life filled with loving family friends and neighbors who in turn will miss her cheerful, warm and loving spirit. Rose filled her days with a passion for art; watercolors, acrylics and oils were her mediums, and her eye for the beauty inherent in nature showed in her landscapes and still life paintings. She was an active member in many local artist groups where she enjoyed the company of other Boise artists and participated in the Art and Roses charity event each year during good health. She enjoyed sharing her passion with her two beloved grand children Michael and Gabby. Rose raised three children while traveling the world with her husband of 52 years, Col. Charles R. Porter. They lived in Florida for awhile, then to Savannah GA, Canoga Park CA, North Bay Ont, Colorado Springs CO and finally landing in Boise ID. Other travels included the Philippines, Europe and the Virgin Islands. Her last trip to Italy was one of her favorites; shared with her two sisters Helen and Peg along with son and daughter-in-law Stephen & Brandi Porter and daughter Gail Shaffer, as they explored their Italian roots. Her older son Charles A Porter moved to Boise with his wife Susie at his retirement and gave Rose lots of love and support in her last years. Rose was born on February 12th, 1921 in Newark New Jersey. She graduated from East Orange HS and married Charles shortly after the war. She was preceded in death by husband Col. Charles R Porter, her parents Anna and Stephen De Perty, her brothers Micky and Stephen De Perty. She is survived by her sisters Helen Hector and Peggy Beleza, sons Stephen and Charles Porter, daughter Gail Shaffer, daughter-in-laws Brandi and Susie Porter, grand children Michael and Gabby Porter, and many other wonderful nieces, nephews and grand children-in-law that she loved so very much. Rose was grateful for the excellent care she received from the St Lukes MSTI and Hospice team including Shannon and Wanda Jo. A special thank you goes to caregiver Charlotte Brown who supported the family as well as being Rose's earth angel. A service/memorial for family and friends will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Rose Porter to St Lukes MSTI or Hospice. St Lukes, c/o Health Foundation 190 E. Bannock St, Boise Idaho 83712.
