She was born Jan. 17, 1926, in Bemidji, Minn., to Byron and Nellie (Kroll) Carver. She had lived in the Willow Grove area of Longview for many years. She moved to Vancouver in 1983, but returned to Longview in 1998.
Mrs. Fowler was a graduate of Lower Columbia College and received her teaching degree at Central Washington University in 1975. She taught at Hockinson School in Vancouver, retiring in 1990. She volunteered at the Veteran's Hospital, counting and sorting prescriptions. She enjoyed arts and crafts, painting, sculpting, cooking and collecting dolls.
Survivors include two sons, David Fowler of Rainier and Samuel Steven Fowler in Hawaii; a daughter, Sammy J. Thorpe of Longview; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Samuel Joseph Fowler, July 4, 1967; two brother, Terry Carver and Rick Carver; three sisters, Lucille Kirkland, Mary Carver and Lorraine Carver; and an infant daughter, Leslie Lorraine Fowler.
Services will be held at a later date. Private inurnment will be at Longview Memorial Park.
