The body of Joseph Anthony Joncas, of Calary, who was drowned in Lake Minnewanka on June 18, was recovered last Sunday by Forest Rangers.

One of the pioneers in the oil development in Montana and Turner Valley, Mr. Joncas was born in Matane, Quebec. He moved to the Falgar district as a child and later homesteaded there. He served in the Canadian Army in the First World War from which he was discharged with the rank of company sergeant-major.

For 30 years he operated his own firm, J.A. Joncas, general contractor, and in 1948 was made president of Steel Crafts Limited.

Surviving is a cousin, Alfred Joncas, of Vancouver.
