Melissa “Missy” Kirkpatrick, 43 of Marion, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 17, 2015 while in the care of Hospice of Rutherford County in Forest City. A native of McDowell County, she was born on July 21, 1971 to the late Frank and Mary Kirkpatrick. Melissa attended State Street Church of God. She fought an amazing fight with the strength of her faith and will be remembered as a loving and wonderful mother, sister and friend.
Left to cherish her memory are a son, Blake Kirkpatrick of Marion and his special friend Amber; sisters, Rachael Hollifield and her son Paul Hollifield, Kim Ashe and husband Gregg, Sarah Brannon and husband Charles and a brother David Kirkpatrick, wife Angela and their daughter Kagan Kirkpatrick, all of Marion. A special uncle and aunt, Harmon and Pam Strickland also survive.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at State Street Church of God with the Revs. Eddie Brewer and Doug Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
