George Armstrong Ballow was born on December 23, 1882 in Williamson County, Tennessee, the son of Fountain C "Fount" Ballow (1844–1926) and Virginia Ann "Ginny" (Armstrong) Ballow (1854-1937).
He was married on October 29, 1908 in Nashville to Mollie "Pearl" Wilcox (ca 1886- ).
A railroad worker at Nashville Terminals and living at 3514 Richardson Avenue, Nashville, George was 58 years old and married when he died at home of a cerebral hemorrhage on July 11, 1941. Burial was three days later in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashville.
