Evening Times; Cumberland, Maryland, Monday, January 29, 1962: “Mt. Savage - Miss Alice R. Barrett, 73, died this morning in the Allegany County Infirmary where she had been a patient for the past several years. Born in Mt. Savage, she was a daughter of the late James E. and Mary V. (Lucky) Barrett. She was the owner and manager of the Barrett Confectionary Store for about 30 years until she sold out because of ill health. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Arthur Walsh, of here and two nieces. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church and the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The body is at the home of her sister, Mrs. Walsh, Church Hill.”
