Bettye June Compa, 90, of West Frankfort passed away at 5:21 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2015 in the Arch of Energy. She was born November 13, 1924 in Benton to Lyman J. and Corenia (Whittington) Austin. She married Henry Compa on May 8, 1946 and he preceded her in death on January 10, 2008. Survivors include a daughter, Becky Fries and husband, Larry of West Frankfort; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Compa of West Frankfort; grandchildren, Anita Irwin, Angela Fries and Victoria Stevens; great grandchildren, Alicia, Brianna, Austin, Max and Amanda; a sister, Joan Bennett of West Frankfort and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry; son, Frank Compa; sisters, Mary Evelyn DeLap and Gretchen Jones. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in West Frankfort and was a clerk for A&P, Big John's and the Market Basket Grocery Stores. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2015 in the Parker - Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort with Rev. Paul Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Tower Heights Cemetery in West Frankfort. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
