A native of Hertford County, N.C., Mr. Earley was a retired insurance agent for Western-Southern Life Insurance Co. He was a member of Hickory Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, Ahoskie, and a member of American Legion, Weldon, N.C.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Brinkley Earley; four daughters, Pam Moore of Monroe, Conn., Vicki Francis of Waynesville, N.C., Lynette Butler of Stokes, N.C. and Sheryl Jager of Aulander, N.C.; a son, Gene L. Earley Jr. of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; his mother, Isolind Slaughter Earley of Rich Square, N.C.; two sisters, Hannah Lupton, Deborah Knight, both of Franklin, Va.; two brothers, Willie M. Earley of Franklin, Robert E. Earley of Orlando, Fla.; and ten grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Hickory Chapel Free Will Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert May. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
