Mrs. Mildred Hunt Ribble, a resident of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, died Friday, December 24, 2004. She was one of eight children born and raised in Bowling Green, Kentucky. She was born on January 29, 1904 to Price Joe Hunt and Lou Ella Smith Hunt. She married David Patterson Ribble in 1949 in which he died in 1960.

A memorial service for Mrs. Ribble will be conducted Thursday, December 30, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant with Reverend Elmer Crosby officiating. Graveside services will follow at the Summertown Cemetery in Summerown, Tennessee. There is no visitation scheduled. Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Ribble requested that no flowers be sent but she be remembered by donations to the Mildred Ribble Scholarship Fund which provides scholarships for Mt. Pleasant High School graduates (c/o Judy Wolaver, First Farmers and Merchants Bank, 128 North Main Street, Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee 38474 or First Baptist Church P.O. Box 169, Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee 38474.

She received her AB degree at Brenau College in Atlanta, Georgia in 1925 and graduated from Bowling Green Business University in 1926. After moving to Mt. Pleasant in 1927, she established a commercial education department at Hay Long High School which became known throughout the area as producing some of the best prepared students entering their prospective fields. She enjoyed a 46 years teaching career and retired in 1973. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling, volunteer work at Maury Regional Hospital, church involvement, and visiting with friends. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant, Super Stars, and Delta Kappa Gamma Society.

Mrs. Ribble was my typing teacher at Hay Long High School and my G. A. teacher at the First Baptist Church on Bond Street in Mt. Pleasant, Maury Co., Tn. Her typing students over the years, all met and gave her a birthday party for her 100th birthday.
