Eleanor Rae Butler, also known as Eleanor Rae Whitesel, passed away peacefully during a nap on April 9, 2015, at the age of 99. She was born Nov. 7, 1915, in Armagh Township, Pennsylvania, to the late Margaret and Maurice Pecht.Eleanor assembled electrical components for the Bendix Company and finally the Honeywell Corporation, from which she retired. She moved to Michigan 18 years ago with her youngest daughter.Eleanor enjoyed serving in any capacity at Chippewa Valley Church of God, watching the Detroit Tigers and working on various craft projects. She was also an avid reader. This past Easter Sunday she prepared Communion for her church and then Monday she enjoyed watching the Tigers' home opener on TV.She is survived by: her daughters, Ruth Irene Smouse and Nancy Lee (Rev. Dennis) Cole; grandchildren, Linda Irene Booher, Brenda Gale Hackett, Brian Edward and companion, Jennifer Hutchings and Michael Alan and wife, Trinda Cole; great-grand- children, Renee Irene and husband, Marc, Widner, Michael William Edward and wife, Mandy, Booher, Dean Eugene and wife, Carrie, Hackett, Anthony Edward and wife, Heather, Hackett, Amanda Gale Hackett, Maizie Aness Cole, Bryton Maxwell Cole, Gracie Scout Cole, Sawyer Bennett Cole and Camden Turner Cole; great-great-grandchildren, Donald and wife, Sarah, Mckinnon Jr., Anthony Widner, James Widner, Jennifer Widner, Ashley and husband, Scott, Warnick, Cheyenne Hackett, Autumn Hackett, Kyle Hackett, Jeremy Bittinger and Marshal Bittinger; great-great-great grandchildren, Isaiah Mckinnon, Nikko Othon and Sophia Warnick. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.Eleanor is preceded in death by her husbands, John Franklin Whitesel and Merrill Keith Butler; a son, James Clarence Whitesel; a son-in-law, William Smouse; five siblings and her parents.There will be a private cremation entrusted to Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home, 2125 Twelve Mile Road Berkley, Mich. A memorial service will be held privately in the future. Memorial donations are suggested to Chippewa Valley Church of God, 41411 Romeo Plank Road, Clinton Township, MI 48038.
