Walter Earl Ramsey, 90, of Taylor passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Monday, April 20, 2015 at Providence Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday April 21, 2015 at Providence Funeral Home.

Walter was born July 4, 1924 in Tobinsport Indiana to Gus and Rhoda (Wilson) Ramsey. He married June Stirk on May 11, 1946 in Cannelton, Indiana.

Walter was a World War II veteran. He was inducted into the military in Indiana, then served at Camp Bowie, and then at Camp Hood (now Ft. Hood) Walter served in the European Theater and the Battle of the Bulge as a T-Sgt. He was assigned to a tank destroyer unit as a driver.

He work for Bethleham Shipyard and Commericial Fielder.

Walter was a carpenter and loved woodworking. He also enjoyed fishing on the Ohio River and talking and making friends with those around him.

He moved to Taylor in 2012. He was a member of the American Legion. Walter held a High Priesthood in the church of Jesus Christ of the Ladderday Saints.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Rhonda; brothers, Warren, James and Gus Ramsey, Jr.

He is survived by his wife June K. Stirk Ramsey; children, Roxanne Shamay (John) of CA., Melvin Ramsey of CA., Dan Ramsey (Tammy Avant Ramsey) of Taylor TX., Tom Ramsey (Denise) of CA., Steven Ramsey (Dianne) of IN.; grandchildren, Michael Ramsey and Brittaney Ramsey of CA., Nicholas Ramsey of MO., Christopher Ramsey of KS., Tommy Ramsey and Casey Ramsey of CA., Heaven Ramsey and Nikki Ramsey of Paloi, IN.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
