CHRISTINA "CHRIS" WATKINS Christina "Chris" Watkins, 98, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 in Asheville, NC. Born in Gridley, California, she lived most of her life in Chico, CA. and was the daughter of the late Mabel and Alexander Cassady. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ed Watkins; her son, James C. Watkins; and her brother Marvin Cassady. Chris spent many wonderful years working at Community Hospital in Chico where she enjoyed the camaraderie of her colleagues. She was a life member of the Josephine Chico Chapter Order of Eastern Star where she served as worthy matron and a grand officer and the first mother advisor for the Rainbow for Girls Chico chapter. In her retirement, she enjoyed playing bridge and was never known to turn down an offer to socialize. She is survived by her daughter Helen Smith (Dan) of Asheville, NC; her grandchildren, Kimberly Smith, Kylie Smith, Steffanie Watkins, Sean Watkins; and her nephew, Marvin Cassady, Jr. and niece, RuthAnn King; and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held this summer in Chico. Memorials donations may be made to Meals On Wheels in care of Brusie Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent online at BrusieFH.com
