Lawrence E. Hampton, age 73, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at the Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, Missouri. He was born on July 6, 1941, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Lenox and Jessie Hampton. He grew up on the East Side of Kansas City, Missouri, and graduated from East High School with the Class of 1959. After high school he served in the United States Navy, mostly in Pensacola, Florida and was discharged in 1962. He returned to Kansas City and became an apprentice electrician. He was a journeyman electrician and a member of IBEW Local #124 for over fifty years. In December of 1990, he was united in marriage to Betty Dryer. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. He had been coming to the lake area since the 1950's and moved to Warsaw permanently in 1995. He was a member of American Legion Post #217 of Warsaw. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Sherril Jack Jones, and a step-son, Michael Mills. He is survived by his wife Betty, of the home, five children, Michael Hampton(Sondra), Dana Hampton- Melton, Shanna Hampton- Woyak(Kurt), Chris Hampton(Pam), and Cindy Hampton- Mahoney(Mike), three step-children, Dora Eitel, Anthony Simmons, and Jeff Simmons, nine grandchildren, Johnna Melton, Andrew Woyak, Rosario Delsorbo, Connor Hampton, Brennan Hampton, Adam Johns, Katy Johns, Ashley Mahoney and Ryan Mahoney, two great- grandchildren, Carsten and Logan, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Lawrence Hampton will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 18, 2015, at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services beginning at 1:00 P.M. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Shawnee Cemetery near Warsaw.
