Wanda Lee (Bowen) McKinney, 82, passed from this life and entered a place of peace on April 15, 2015 in Broken Bow, OK. She was born January 27, 1933 in Bethel, OK the daughter of Leonard E. and Maudie (Smith) Bowen.

Wanda was a rancher, homemaker and store clerk. Her hard work and persistent nature helped her over come many hardships. Wanda and R. V. McKinney were united in marriage December 20, 1950 in DeQueen, AR, and began their life together as ranchers and parents to their four daughters. Wanda was a wonderful mother, cooking many delicious meals including her pies which were legendary among her family and friends. She loved spending time with her grandkids and great-grandchildren, riding horses, hunting, fishing, training her stock dogs and helping others. Her daily prayer was “ Lord give me strength to help others”.

Wanda leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Ramona Myers and Darryl Pierce, Deb McKinney and Al Para all of Broken Bow, OK, Jackie and Randall Walters of Battiest, OK, Pam McKinney of Bethel, OK; nine grandchildren, Miki Jernigan and husband Lance. Major Scott Burnett and wife Jennifer, Andrew Para, Tyson Walters and wife Becky, Courtney Axton and husband, Garrett, Cole Walters, Misty Baggs and husband, Clay, Sab Smith and wife Amber and Jodie Hendricks; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; her beloved sisters, Fern DuMilieu and Joyce Belk and husband James; brother, Nelson Bowen; a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends and close friends at McCurtain Manor Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband R.V. McKinney; brother, Leon Bowen; grandson, Darby Walters; great granddaughter, Elizabeth Burnett.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at First Assembly of God Church, Battiest, OK. Bro. David Hardin will officiate
