Phillip Wayne Byrd, 67, of Haughton, LA went home to be with the Lord on April 13, 2015. Phillip was born on December 10, 1947 in Malvern to Alvin and Janet (Barnes) Byrd. He retired from the Air Force and the Louisiana DMV. He was also a member of Haughton Baptist Temple in Haughton, LA where he served as youth director for 11 years, head usher for 12 years, and was a former choir member. He enjoyed his big screen TV, golf, hunting, fishing, camping, bowling, and his greatest enjoyment was his grandchildren.
Phillip is predeceased by his parents; paternal grandparents, Andrew Jackson Byrd and Ida Wallace Byrd; and maternal grandparents, William Lee Barnes and Talalulah Bell Smith Barnes.
Phillip is survived by his wife, Carol Davidson Byrd of Haughton, LA; son, Gary Byrd (Elizabeth) of Elm Grove, LA; daughters, Joy Byrd Lopez (Albert) of Reedsville, NC and Rachel Byrd Frake (G.W.) of Shreveport, LA; brothers, Steve Byrd (Paulette) of Hot Springs, Richard Byrd (Jackie) of Malvern, Dennis Byrd of Hot Springs, and Tony Byrd (Lyn) of Hot Springs; eight grandchildren, Jasmine, Sarah, Abigail, Emily, Jaxon, Phillip II, Ashton, and Ella; and one great-grandchild, Steven.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 11:00 at Resthaven Cemetery with Pastor Gary Byrd officiating. Full military honors will be rendered by the Little Rock Air Force Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be G.W. Frake, Albert Lopez, Jaxon Aiken, Phillip Byrd II, Corey Aiken, and Jeremy Burton. Honorary Pallbearer will be Ashton Aiken.
