Maxine Grose, age 91 of Karns City , PA , passed away, Monday, April 13, 2015, in the Parker Personal Care Home, Parker, PA. Born in Lonaconing , Maryland , April 1, 1924, the daughter of the late A.J. Green and Mary V. Monahan Green. Before moving to Chicora, PA, she worked for Kelly Springfield Tire, Colonial Music Shop, Ideal Buick, and was a Eucharistic Minister at Saint John Catholic Church, Frederick , Maryland. She helped start AMI and NAMI, as well as, was on the board for Frederick County Mental Health Association for many years. She married Kenneth R. Grose on August 11, 1943. He preceded her in death on July 31, 1984 She is survived by daughter Chris (William) Snyder of Karns City, PA. sons: John Grose of New Castle, PA. and James D. (Cathy) Grose of Thurmont , Maryland. Grandchildren: Michele and Bud Snyder and Jamie and Dustin Grose, and also 6 Great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family of 5 sisters and 4 brothers. Visitation was Thursday at Thomas M. STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME and a Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, Chicora , PA Graveside services and burial will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Resthaven Memorial Gardens 9501 Catoctin Mountain Hwy Frederick, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to: Parker Personal Care Home, 103 Seward Street, Parker, PA 16049.
