He was born in Salt Lake City on October 11, 1926 to Isadore Alphonsus German and Leah Dolores Beveridge German.
He joined the CCC at thirteen years old and in 1943 at seventeen, he joined the Sea Bees.
He met and married Hazel LaVerne Flint on August 12, 1948.
He was a welder at Armco Steel from that day until he retired at sixty years old. For two more years, he worked as a security guard at Unysis until he was able to earn Social Security at sixty-two.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather to his five children and thirteen grandchildren, and twenty-nine great-grandchildren.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, and tinkering with anything mechanical. He was always joking, playing practical jokes and never stopped telling stories.
He is survived by his brother, Keith; his five children, Mrs. Stephen (Linda) Boynton, John Earl German (Pamela), Mrs. Randall (Jill) Jenkins, David German, and Mrs. Aaron (Sherry) Lobato; thirteen grandchildren, and twenty-nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his spouse, LaVerne, and both parents.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple Street, Salt Lake City. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 10, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and prior to the services on Saturday from 11:00-11:45 a.m.
Interment will be held in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
