Anna Maria Ruopp (anglicized to Mary Rupp) was born on November 16, 1839 in Rudersberg, Württemberg, Germany, to Gottlieb Ruopp and Eva Wieland.

Immigrated to America in July 1860.

Came to Utah with Capt. William Hyde's Wagon Train in 1864.
Married John Theophilus Gerber Sr. on the trail somewhere in Wyoming, on August 28, 1864.

Together they had nine children:

Sarah Caroline Gerber (1867–1947)
Mary Emmeretta Gerber (1870–1889)
Eva Pauline Gerber (1872–1943)
Aaron Emanuel Gerber (1874–1953)
