Rex Joseph Christian, 85 of Stratford, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Stratford with Steve Baskin officiating, and Rev. Ron Whitt assisting. Interment will follow at Stratford Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home in Stratford from 6 pm to 8 pm on Monday, April 20, 2015. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.

Rex was born on February 4, 1930 in Union County, NM to Sam and Victoria (Durbin) Christian. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Rex was united in marriage on April 29, 1953 in Raton, NM to the Bernice Gilbert. She preceded him in death on February 25, 2014.

Rex was passionate about farming and ranching. Family and friends were very important to him; he was a loving husband, dad, granddad, and a friend to many. Rex was an avid golfer, and took great pleasure in caring for and walking amongst "his" trees. He was a member of First Baptist Church and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by three daughters: Rexan Gerard and husband Joe of Ulysses, KS, Rozan Christian of Dallas, TX, Shirlyn Smith and husband John Alfred of Florence, TX; son: Max Christian and wife Lori of Stratford, TX; grandchildren: Andrew Gerard and wife Sonja, Daniel Gerard, Johnathan Smith, Chelsea Miller and husband Zack, Trevor Christian; great-grandchildren: Aiden and Lani Miller and Josephine Gerard; sisters: Rose Bookout and Nira Gross; brother: Gail Christian.
