PAYNE (Pierce), Gwendolyn Darlene Of Union, Ohio went home to be with her Savior on July 15, 2015 after a battle with cancer. She was born in Oak Ridge, TN on April 22, 1945 to Thelma Loftis Pierce and the late Howard Nelson Pierce. She was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Loftis Pierce and father Harold Nelson Pierce; father-in-law; Lawrence Payne and mother-in-law, Nancy Louise Payne. Mrs. Payne is survived by her husband of 45 years, James Lawrence Payne of Union, OH; son Terry W. (Jennifer) Payne of Florissant, MO; son Christopher N. Payne of Dayton, OH; two sisters; Linda M Lee and Sarah F. Pierce both of Cookeville, TN and two grandchildren, Alexander J. Payne of Florissant, MO, and April R. Payne of Union, OH and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Payne began her career with the federal government on Sept. 29, 1967 in Computer Operations at Defense Electronics Supply Center (DESC) in Kettering, OH. DESC Computer Operations in pert was relocated to Defense Information Supply Agency (DISA) in Columbus, OH in 1994 where she spent the remainder of her career until her retirement as a Procedure Writer in June 2000. Mrs. Payne was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1501 E. Third St., Dayton, OH for over 46 years where funeral services will be held lPM on Friday, July 15, 2015 with Pastor Richard Springer officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until service time on Friday at the church. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery in Dayton, OH. The George C, Martin Funeral Home, 5040 Frederick Pike, Dayton, OH in charge of arrangements.
