This lifelong resident of the Hooper’s Creek Community in Fletcher was adored by so many for his kind heart and his never ending practical jokes. Blan is the son of the late Reaves and Ruth Barnwell. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Faye; a son, Keith; a daughter, Shelia; two brothers, Kenneth and Dallas; and a sister, Delores.
Blan retired in 2005 from the NC Department of Transportation as a motor grader operator.
He is survived by his son, Brian Barnwell and his wife Elena; their children, Travis, Logan, Jacklin, and Drew; his daughter, Olivia Jones of Whittier; her children, Timothy and Monica; her grandchildren, Aiden and Jason; his daughter, Robin Torres of Bethel; several in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a parcel of dear friends that he has always considered to be family.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Rev. Jeff Wilkie will officiate.
