Anchorage resident Laura Esther Poe, 82, died peacefully Dec. 22, 2010, of natural causes at her home, surrounded by her family. Visitation was at Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel. A Viewing was held at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, with the service. Officiating was the Rev. Dr. Alonzo B. Patterson. Pallbearers were Thomas Anderson, Kenneth Brown, Wallace Hickman, Brandon Maxim, Billy Ray and Tyronne Sylva. Burial was at Angelus Memorial Park in the spring.

Laura was born April 22, 1928, in Clarksville, Tenn. She moved to Alaska in 1964 and worked for Alaska Dry Cleaners before retiring to become a homemaker. She was married to Isham "Shotgun Harris" Poe for 45 years. She loved to shop and make flower arrangements in her spare time. She will be dearly missed and was very much loved by many. The family would like to thank everyone who has supported the family in this time of bereavement. "There are not enough words to express our deepest gratitude," they said.

She is survived by her children, Ketina Poe, Carol, Hazel, James and Sterling Jackson and Angelique D'albora; grandchildren, Charrie Jackson, Tara Bullock (Troy Bullock), LaTesha Sylva, Isiah Perry and Londra Jackson; great-grandchildren, Vontrell Morgan and LaTreya Bullock; and a host of close family and friends.
