Alvin Wagner Zentz was born and raised in the small town of Nappanee, Indiana. He was the eldest son of Albert and Lucretia (Hemminger) Zentz. He was a veteran of WWI. He was involved in several battles, serving in France as a member of Co. G, Thirty Second Division. He returned to the US in September of 1918, assigned to assist in training in Jackson, Michigan. He married Nina Lee on September 19, 1918.
